Hi!! Here's where I'm making music late this summer and during the rest of 2008:
*Wednesday August 20, 5:00 - 7:30 pm -- Join me at the STOMP OUT BREAST CANCER Wine Tasting and Silent Auction Event at the Palm Garden in the Milwaukee Public Market (400 N. Water Street in downtown Milwaukee's historic Third Ward). Sponsored by the American Cancer Society, I'll be singing the jazzy side of the Great American Songbook from a truly "delovely" piano while you wine and dine for a great cause. All proceeds benefit Making Strides Against Breast Cancer. Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door; RSVP to Melissa at the American Cancer Society (262-523-5567) by Monday August 18.
*Monday December 15, 7:30 pm -- "Chicago Holiday -- Celebrating the Season" at the Drury Lane Theatre Water Tower Place. A joint production of Chicago Cabaret Professionals and the Drury Lane organization, the monthly Musical Mondays on the Magnificent Mile shows have been selling out since the premiere in February. I've just been invited to join a cast that also includes Rob Dorn, KT McCammond, Elizabeth Doyle, Tim Hairston, Alma Mendoza and Sami Scot. More info coming soon, but meanwhile visit www.drurylanewatertower.com and click on the "Musical Mondays" link.
RECENT PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS --
August 2008 -- I gave my ninth annual outdoor concert at Mill Pond Park in the Village Centre of downtown Menomonee Falls, WI (just northwest of Milwaukee). This year's show, "Sentimental Journey", highlighted the big band and swing music of the 1940s and 1950s. WATCH FOR A VIDEO MONTAGE OF CONCERT HIGHLIGHTS TO BE POSTED ON THE SITE SOON!!
June 2008 -- It was definitely "Stormy Weather" outside, so that was my first song on Saturday June 7 at the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts annual gala, "Shakin' Up the Standards". The arts center in Brookfield, Wisconsin featured black-tie elegance and great music all evening, and I contributed my very best Cole Porter and Gershwin in a piano-bar setting where guests were welcome to step up to the mic and croon a favorite standard or two during the cocktail hour. I also got to meet New York cabaret great Mark Nadler who gamely performed in the tent during dinner with Mother Nature's percussion and light show continuing outside. The show must go on!!
May 2008 -- A trio performance of "Broadway's Best" along with soprano Jeanne Scherkenbach and baritone John Trybus, both of Lyric Opera of Chicago, for the Congregation Sinai Sisterhood in Milwaukee. Wonderful music and a lovely audience.
March 2008 -- Chicago Cabaret Professionals "Counting Down the Decades" series at Davenport's. I performed on the show saluting the 1960s along with Mark and Anne Burnell, Suzy Petri, Daryl Nitz, MaryMonica Thomas, Heather Moran and Keely Nicole. A very groovy evening!!
February 2008 -- two Valentine's Week performances of my love songs concert, "What Is This Thing Called Love?", in Madison, WI -- in the Auditorium at Oakwood Village West and the Grand Hall at Meriter Retirement. Thanks to both for having such marvelous performance spaces and for being such wonderful audiences.
December 2007 -- Club 3160, 3160 N. Clark in Chicago; guest performer on Amy Cole's "Last Friday of the Month" series. Thanks Amy -- looking forward to being back with you soon!!
December 2007 -- Davenport's Cabaret, 1383 N. Milwaukee, Chicago; duo performance with Rob Dorn in Chicago Cabaret Professionals annual Holiday Cabaret. Lots of great music in an evening devoted to raising funds for children's charities.
October 2007 -- Chicago Cabaret Professionals Annual Gala at The Park West; it was an honor to contribute a short set (and to play for vocalist Jeanne Scherkenbach in a super rendition of "Zing Went the Strings of My Heart") in this spectacular show that garnered a fabulous review by Chicago Tribune jazz critic Howard Reich. Watch for DVD footage of my performance to be on the site soon.
