Music For Wedding Ceremonies & Receptions
Whether your celebration is large or small, a faith-based or civil ceremony, an elaborate reception at a country club or resort or an intimate gathering for close family and friends, Carolyn has years of experience providing music for all types of weddings.
For Your Ceremony
You've been searching for just the right songs that reflect your musical tastes and yet remain within the traditions of your faith. And you need a musician to bring these songs to life in the reverent manner called for on this most important day. As a wedding ceremony musician, Carolyn is uniquely qualified to assist you.
- She can serve as both vocal soloist and pianist, performing your instrumental selections as well as singing special vocal solos from the piano
- She can provide solo piano music if only instrumental selections are desired, with the option of also providing piano accompaniment for other instrumentalists or vocal soloists
- She can serve as your vocal soloist, with your church organist, a string ensemble or other instrumentalists providing accompaniment
Carolyn is keenly aware of the need to choose music that it appropriate to the occasion and she will work within the guidelines of your church or venue to assure that the selections you choose are appropriate and beautifully performed.
Music planning assistance is also part of her commitment to you. A complimentary copy of her CD, "Music for Your Wedding Ceremony", along with a comprehensive booklet she authored to guide you through the process, is available to all ceremony clients. The CD includes over 45 song excerpts representing a wide variety of musical styles, and includes a special section devoted to music for the Catholic wedding ceremony.
For Your Reception
This is the day you've been waiting for, and nothing says "elegance" like live music. As a background pianist, Carolyn specializes in a wide variety of musical styles. The music of Broadway - from classic Jerome Kern and Cole Porter to the modern masterworks of Andrew Lloyd Webber - is a particular specialty. Popular jazz standards and romantic ballads from Sinatra to Streisand and Norah Jones are well represented, and favorite classical selections can also be included. Carolyn blends these diverse styles into a seamless set of songs, lending the understated elegance to your cocktail and dinner reception that only an experienced musician can provide.
Ideas To Consider
Thinking about having a small ensemble perform your wedding music? Perhaps strings playing Bach and Mozart with piano accompaniment before your ceremony, or a trumpet fanfare to announce your processional. Maybe you'd like another vocalist to sing a duet with Carolyn during the ceremony. The upbeat sound of a jazz trio playing Frank Sinatra's greatest hits makes for a grand entrance at your reception. Or maybe you simply want quiet, conversation-friendly solo piano playing soft ballads in the background. All of these are possible as Carolyn collaborates regularly with the finest musicians in the region and can create just the right ensemble for your wedding day.
Special song requests are always welcome, and Carolyn is adept at singing in several foreign languages. She maintains an extensive library of music in a wide variety of styles, and custom arrangements can be developed for an additional fee.
If your venue does not provide a piano, Carolyn's portable digital piano and professional sound system are available for a nominal cartage fee.

"We were so very pleased with the music at our daughter's wedding. Thank you for coordinating the music and arranging for the other musicians ... it was a totally awesome fairy-tale performance. Your reception and dinner music added so much to the rest of the evening, too. Thanks so much!"
Baesemann wedding ceremony and reception, Milwaukee Art Museum, August 2005. |
"I want to tell you again how delightful it was to work with someone who was so organized, professional and interested in us. I know that for many vendors, weddings have long ago lost their 'specialness' to them. But for every bride and groom and their parents, this is THE wedding. It was wonderful to find someone who cared, knew what they were doing, attended to all the details and then delivered a beautiful performance. Thank you!"
Doherty wedding ceremony and reception, Charles Allis Art Museum/Pfister Hotel, Milwaukee, August 2004. |
